A Letter from our KPALS President

Welcome new and returning Kiroli students and parents!  I hope everyone had a summer that was full of fun, excitement, and possibly even some much needed rest and relaxation.  Beginning a new school year brings both excitement and change, and this year is no exception. We have a lot of new faces this year on the KPALS Executive Board and we have planned another great year.  Enclosed you will find a list of the new officers and Executive Board.  You will notice that we have an officer position and several committee chairs left open for a leader.

Therefore, this year, I am reaching out to all parents, Dads, and Grandparents also, to get involved somehow/someway with Kiroli’s parent group.  Volunteers play a vital role in the success of a school and the achievements of its students.   There are various ways for you to help our school, teachers, and students:

  • Take on a Leadership position
  • Head a committee responsible for an event
  • Volunteer (we always have a need for these)

I would like to point out to all parents that by joining KPALS you are helping your school gain financial strength, assist with school improvement and provide much needed support to our teachers and staff.

There are benefits to being a PTA member and research shows that when families get involved, their children:

  • Get better grades and test scores
  • Graduate from high school at higher rates
  • Are more likely to go on to higher education
  • Are better behaved and have more positive attitudes

To register as a volunteer, please fill out the Kiroli Elementary KPALS membership form and return it to your child’s teacher.  Please remember to check off the areas that interest you. Only one form is needed per family, even if more than one child is attending Kiroli.  In light of current economic conditions and the desire to increase participation, dues have been reduced for the 2008-2009 school year to only $5 per family.   Opportunities are available in the classroom, school-wide and for special events and fundraisers. You need no special skills, just a big heart and the willingness to contribute a little of your time.

I look forward to being your PTA president during this 08-09 school year.  I trust that we can all get involved someway this year. If you have any questions, concerns, or comments please email me at pantley@comcast.net or visit the KPALS website at www.kiroli.com

Let’s all have a Great Year!

Respectfully Yours,

Pam Antley
KPALS President, 2008-2009
